Introduction
On December 14th , 2008, an “Obama House Party for Change” was held at 3LD Art & Technology Center in Manhattan. Artists, organizational leaders, businesspeople and neighbors came to discuss the role of the arts in the rebuilding of our nation. We have since developed a platform to serve as a guideline for future discussions with policy makers. We have developed this website and related networking communities and have agreed to continue our advocacy for a cogent national arts policy now.
Platform for a National Cultural Policy
The existing resources, capabilities and expertise of the arts and cultural sector should be recognized and developed as a prime resource for national recovery and regeneration. Maximizing this resource to rebuild and sustain our cities and advance our nation, with a policy aimed at integrating arts, culture and their professionals into a wide range of initiatives, should be the charge of a dedicated department within the newly established Office of Urban Policy...
